Things are going good this week! I hope to be able to hear from you soon. This past week was pretty good. Elder Kelsey Is getting transferred to a new area and im staying in ladysmith. My next companion is Elder Daniels and he is a super cool guy! I have already met him and I love him a lot. Umm haha I don’t have to much else to tell you about the week because it has been a blur haha. We have decided though to start teaching two of our investigators English so they can better situate themselves here and get better jobs. The investigators we will be teaching are Malipo and his wife. Malipos family come from DRC (the Democratic Republic of Congo) and they ran away because the rebel army kept kidnapping him because he is so well educated. When he was still in DRC he was a lecturer for a university so he is extremely smart. I am excited to be able to help him and his family out better by teaching them this skill. Well.. Not to much else to tell you other than have a good week! Elder Payne

Subject: Re: This Week
Hey family!! can I get the second page of my blessing? (Elder Payne had previously asked for his mom to send him his Patriarchal Blessing.) all I got was two copies of the first page haha but im glad I have that. Im not sure what to tell you this week… On Tuesday we were called to come give a blessing to a member in the ward who was quite sick. As we showed up The father led us in hymns and a spiritual thought about Jonah. He told us how like Jonah him and his family have tried to run away from the word of god and tried to do their own things. But just like Jonah The lord has created storms and commanded a whale to pick him and his family up and put them back to where they are supposed to be. He later explained that he likened the whale to me and my companion and how we picked them up from where they used to be and are bringing them back to church. It was a very wonderful analogy, but I don’t think I would let any one call me a whale, besides this man and let them get away with it haha. I love this family very much. Then on… Thursday we woke up and as we were preparing breakfast we noticed that out garage door was wide open and some of our tools were lying on the ground!! some one tried to break in!! but luckily they didn’t get in and we are all okay so that’s a bonus. But as a precaution, the mission office is scrambling in trying to find us a new boarding because they want us to feel as safe as possible and not have anyone try to break into our house. But I repeat! We are all doing okay and nothing was stolen. I have almost finished reading Jesus The Christ and look forward to reading it again and learning from it again. I have more fully realized how powerful Jesus Christ is and how important the atonement was for all man kind. I feel like the Nephites however got the better end of the deal however because they got to see angels AND Jesus Christ who personally ministered to them In his resurrected body TWICE!!! A lot of faith was shown and as a result the heavens literally opened and brought forth The Son of God and ministering angels. I love the book of Mormon and our redeemer Jesus Christ. Have a good week you rascals. Elder Payne
Subject: Re: GRAD
Sawnbonani family at home!! (hello in Zulu to a group of people) Thanks for the four emails people!! And also thanks for the Grad pictures!! Shaelyn looks SOOOOO pretty!! But ill stand by what I said before. Ben is a great guy, im sure. But hes a little weird looking not that its any fault of his haha. Im just happy to know Justin Beazer didn’t take her to Grad!! that would have made me extremely Sad. I could even say that it would be Bad!! I would also say it might make me a little Mad!! Going to Grad with a Lad that is not so Rad would have been very Sad!! Im sure that you could also get the same words out of Dad!! Allll right it… those are all the words I can think of that rhyme with Grad haha I hope you enjoy that. So this week is the middle of the school year so that means Winter Vacation!! the one thing I can say I hate on mission is Holidays. Nobody is home!! But im sure that this too shall pass. once school is back in session we will be able to see EVERYONE!! This week despite missing a lot of people we were able to see One of my favourite less active families ever!! Elder Kelsey and I continued on reading the Book of Mormon with them and explaining any thing they didn’t understand. It was actually a very wonderful lesson. I cant remember if I told about the reading program That elder Kelsey and I created so I will just tell you again… We created a program for all of our investigators/ less actives so they can gain a testimony of the book of Mormon for themselves while in the mean time having things be explained that they don’t understand. I cant even keep track of how many times we have read the words ” I Nephi having been Born of Goodly Parents” but I can tell you that EVERY time I read them I get excited because it means I am again starting to read the book that has changed the lives of millions, countless nations and beings in the spirit world. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland gave a powerful message about the Book of Mormon and how everything in this Gospel hinges on it. If you can discredit the book then you can discredit our religion (both of these things are impossible because you cannot discredit the truth) I know that this book is true and it explains everything that man kind needs to come back and live in the presence of our loving heavenly father and his son Jesus Christ. Also along the lines of my studies I have continued reading Jesus The Christ. This book is absolute POWER. I don’t know if you, mom or dad have read it but if you have any questions at all about the life of Christ and his teachings, I would refer you to that book. I have learned more fully the perfect example that he was and how he loves us all. Im sure I will re read it again, but probably after I have read the Book of Mormon again. I want to be able to read the Book of Mormon four times on mission. Once for every six months. that’s a pretty realistic goal right? Well I love you guys and hope you have a good week!! Salagathle! (go well) Elder Payne
Pictures as promised! Thank you so much for blessing us with your company last night. You are an inspiring bunch; we love feeling your enthusiasm and dedication. Please stay in touch, you who are transferring away. We love you all –

Subject: Transfer News!!
Hey family!! I sent you a picture we took as a zone at Elder and Sister Herringtons house last night! in the back you can see me and my companion elder Kelsey. He is the bald guy right next to me flexing like some sort of maniac haha. WHO IS TAKING SHAELYN TO GRAD???? This question has been killing me!! Has she been accepted into any schools? has she applied? So for us this past week Elder Kelsey and I committed an investigator on a Baptismal Date!! hope fully this is the first I have on mission! The mans name is Stewart and is from Malawi. He was super prepared to meet with us!! He told us last week that our church is his church now and we wont leave it!! AHHHH this man is power!! Also we received transfer news on Saturday And I will be staying in ladysmith with Elder Kelsey for another transfer!! im so Excited!! Elder Kelsey is basically my twin our birthdays are so close so I call him Buthi which means Brother in Zulu. I love this Guy a lot. We have a lot of work to do here. At the start of last transfer we put all of our Less actives that we see on a reading program so they can finish the Book of Mormon in a year. Its actually been working very well!! My companion and I came to the conclusion that a big reason why you fall away from the church is because you don’t have a testimony of the Book of Mormon and you have stopped reading as well. It has also helped me with my own testimony and personal reading as well because often time when they share something they like in any scripture, it opens my mind to that verse. I have grown to love reading and sharing this book with every body that we teach.
Also this week we went and saw Gogo (grandma) Mbata a woman who we met while street contacting a few weeks ago. We didn’t have much time to teach her last time we visited her because she was having a party at her house so there was a lot of people there which was an advantage and disadvantage as well. So at the end of that lesson we left her with a plan of Salvation Pamphlet and left because we really were not feeling the spirit. We came back on Thursday and she was so happy to see us! She said that reading the pamphlet opened up her mind to so many more wonderful works of our heavenly father. She LOVED it. It was also a little funny because she said she only had one question for us. She turned the pamphlet around and pointed to the Book of Mormon on the back and asked ” What is this book? And where can I get one?” we were so happy to give her AND her sister a book of Mormon because they as well were very prepared to meet us. At the end of the lesson This dear Gogo said “you know I think this book of Mormon is just as good or better than the bible.” Not saying I dislike the bible but I would have to agree with her haha. It was a very powerful lesson and I loved it. I look forward every day to serving people here and helping them progress. I love you guys a bunch!
